Other Characters Currently In-Game: Aerith Gainsborough, Sokie Undertown
Character Name: Father Oscar
Series: Malevolent
Age: Unstated, but considered to be late thirties, early 40s
From When?: Post hospital drop off, after he sends off his letter to Arthur
Warden Justification: Oscar, while he is a priest of the Church, is also a person who gets things done. Once he gives his word, he goes with the effort to follow through. Much like Aerith, people may think that being soft spoken means that he is soft, or weak. He is someone who is, in fact, someone who follows through with his convictions. He keeps his word- and will in fact adhere to the spirit of something rather then the letter. If that means he has to get down and dirty to make sure his inmate will have to understand, by golly he will. He may only be human- but that determination and capability for compassion is what will bring his inmate to graduation. Even if he has to drag them kicking and screaming the entire way.
Item: His rosary.
Abilities/Powers: Oscar is human, and one that has recently gone down to one arm in fact! He’s scrappy, can run a soup kitchen, but that’s about it. The only thing that may be different is his knowledge of Lovecraftian creatures thanks to a few hours reading in an ancient bestiary, and his knowledge of religion. He may be able to bless things but it would be non supernatural in nature.
Wardening Strategies and Philosophies: While there is going to be a need to do some adjustments on his views on the Barge at large, Oscar has a particular mindset that he adheres to, as much as possible: to do Good. Sometimes, doing good is not the most straightforward path, and not everyone will agree to what it looks like. He has had his flock at home that he took care of, with advice and care- all be it in one case, helping someone whose husband, then sister became possessed by powerful otherworldly deity.
Which means that Oscar has seen some extremes in compared to a regular, mundane life, and has had to step up and do his best to help and deal with what would be considered unnatural situations. While being surrounded by those that are, to be frank, outside of his world view of the most part, that does not stop his core belief and need to do good. Partially, it is to save himself, from the terrible things he has done, as a child and as an adult. It is both his strength and his weakness: Oscar sees himself as flawed. So on the one hand, he will be forever empathic to those who are in need of support, love and care, even when they themselves do not believe they deserve it. On the other hand, he himself may be easily used when someone genuinely shows affection and care towards him. He has been on the sideline of his own life, casting his needs aside for so long that he is, in effect, affection starved. He is also ready to throw down with extreme risks and rewards, as he did, effectively, have his own arm cut off to save his own life.
In that, he could be great for someone who does have giant trust issues, and for those who need someone who will hold the line. That isn’t to say that he can’t be gentle with people- he can be, and is in general. He is, by first impression even, can be seen as fairly nervous, and does harbor a drinking habit.
But he isn’t stupid, and can be very stubborn. So he may end up clashing with those who need more flexibility and more compromise, especially those who see things in extremes and need more balance. Oscar, while good at his core, is also likely to possibly take things too far when a subtle touch is more needed. He may also not be a great fit to those with religious trauma as he is…well, a Catholic Priest.
Deal: Protection for his congregation back home in the form of making sure that his Church and Soup Kitchen in the community center cannot have the negative influences of the Outer Gods or their ilk (including those they may hire or cult members) in the form of: they cannot get inside, cause influence with dreams or indirect harm, or harm people within the grounds of either building while inside.

Sample RP: log!
Special Notes: Oscar has recently lost his left arm below the elbow due to canon purposes, and will likely be recovering to this unless there is intervention by people of the Barge. He’ll also be coming in his cassock, but will change out of it due to not wanting to upset people due to religious trauma.
